A spectacular track showcasing Wellingtons beautiful West coast with Kapiti Island in the backdrop. This walk offers stunning photo opportunities for any keen photographer.  Nicknamed Stairway to heaven due to the quick elevation gain through numerous stair sets. It has some tough sections, particularly the start of both ends as you climb up many steps to the traversing level. A well built and maintained track around 10km each way. Not for those with extreme fear of heights or vertigo. There is a train station only a short walk from each end meaning you don't have to walk there and back, jump on a train back to your car if 20km isn't for you. Parking is available at either one of the train stations (Pukerua Bay or Paekakariki). Refer to the Metlink website (Kapiti line) for train prices and running times.
