Through marshland to sea cliffs, the baring head lighthouse loop has much to offer. This 10km round loop makes for a great day out. After the first bridge out of the car park, choose left or right and follow the trail head markers (orange triangles) around the loop. Going left first means you'll arrive at the lighthouse sooner but going right means you'll be further into the walk before reaching it. Enjoy ocean views and if timed correctly, an epic sunset. If one walk isn't enough, add the wild Wainuiomata coast and catch the seals lazing about. Cellphone reception can be patchy so make sure to tell people where you are headed.
